Our first mission is to shape the future of food. The greatest humanitarian and environmental challenge we face today is sustainably nourishing our world's growing population. On top of this, food poses the greatest challenge of all: it must taste delicious.

Lemna (The Plant)
This fast-growing, leafy green aquatic plant is considered to be one of the most sustainable and nutrient-dense plants on earth. It’s also the most efficient source of the world’s most abundant protein: RuBisCO (or as we call it, Rubi Protein™). We grow Lemna and extract Rubi Protein™ in a sustainable and efficient way.
Rubi Protein™ (The Product)
Rubi Protein™ transforms the taste and texture of the foods that we love. It is non-allergenic and extremely nutritious, containing every amino acid that the human body needs. Rubi Protein™ is the building block for better tasting and more nutritious baked goods, animal-free meat and dairy, and sports/adult nutrition products.
Our Farms (The Method)
We grow Lemna on aqua farms. Lemna requires 10x less water than soybeans (almost 100x less than beef!) and uses zero arable land. Lemna plants also take in 10x more CO2 than a healthy forest. Sustainably speaking, our farms create nothing but upside for people, animals and the planet.

When California announced a statewide lockdown, Tony Martens and Maurits van de Ven decided to stay put instead of heading home to Amsterdam. So, the co-founders of Plantible bought two trailers and started living at their HQ: a two-acre duckweed farm in San Diego.
